The Scientific Programme committee of the 17th Congress of the Pan African Association of Neurological Sciences hereby announces that a pre-congress training workshop on neuroendoscopy will take place in the conference hall of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, Lagos, on 8th August 2006. The workshop will precede the opening ceremony of 9th August 2006.

Objectives. The purpose of the workshop is to provide exposure to neurosurgeons on the principles, techniques and applications of neuroendoscopy in the management of neurological disorders, especially as seen in the African Region.

Workshop Facilitators. The workshop will be facilitated by Professors Patrick Semple and Fieggen, both from South Africa

Brief Description of Workshop. The workshop will be a one-day programme (0800hrs-1800hrs) and will consist of lectures, demonstrations and hands on experience using cadaver heads and models. There will be space for 20 people, who will be accommodated on a first come first serve basis. Refreshments will be provided during breaks and a meal will be served during lunch.

Registration. The workshop registration fee is US$100.00 (N14, 000.00) for consultants/attendings/faculty and US$60.00 (N8, 500.00) for trainees. Trainees must provide letters from their trainers as proof of their status. Interested participants should send by e-mail or post an application letter containing: full names, title, status, institution and affiliation, contact address, to the address provided below. The deadline for registration is 15th July 2006 while the deadline for payment is 31st July 2006. Acceptance for the workshop will be on a first come first serve basis and registration will only be confirmed after receipt of payment.

Method of payment

Payment of fees must accompany all letters of interest . No registration will be confirmed until payment is received. Payment can be made by the following methods
Bank certified cheques, bank drafts and or international money order should be in Nigerian Naira (Nigerian delegates only) or USD and made payable to PAANS 2006.

Transportation and Accommodation. Please see the general announcement for the main conference and note that participants for the workshop coming from outside Lagos should arrive latest 7th August 2006. LASUTH, the venue of the workshop, is 10 and 15 minutes by car from the domestic and international airports respectively.
